Do you support Outlook Web Access Premium?

Yes we do but if you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer 6 or later, you can only use the Light client.

For more information about the Premium and Light version, see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997437.aspx

What is the URL for Outlook Web Access?

In most cases, users can logon to webmail with the following url: https://www.owa.syncmymail.com

Can I use shared folder in Outlook Web Access?

Outlook Web Access allows you to open part of a users e-mailbox, as long as you have the appropriate permission. Permissions have to be set by the user of the e-mailbox you want to access. The user can either send you a sharing invitation or edit the permission of the folder to include you.

Setting Permissions
In Outlook:
1. Right click the folder you wish to share. The best way of locating your folder is to click Go, in the menu at the top, then click Folder List, or use the keyboard shortcut, ctrl + 6. A list of all your folders will be visible on the left side, in the All Folder section.
2. Select Properties
3. Select the Permissions Tab
4. Click Add
5. Double the user(s) from the list
6. Click OK.

Sending an invite
- Invitations can only be sent for Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes.
- Only view permissions can be granted using this method.

1. Navigate to the section, Calendar, or Contacts, etc.
2. On the left hand side of Outlook click "Share My Calendar... " If you can't see it, there might be a scroll bar. Navigate to the bottom and click the link.
3. Click the To: button.
4. Double click the user (s) from the list.
5. Click Ok.
6. Type your message in the body.
7. Click Send.
Opening Shared Folders First step is to login to OWA using your own credentials. Then you can change the path to see the shared folder. For a more technical and detail explanation please visit this Microsoft article. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232199.aspx

What are the differences between MAPI, POP, and IMAP when connecting to Exchange mailboxes?

MAPI connections to the Exchange server allow you full functionality to all of the services Exchange has to offer using Outlook:
* Direct live connections to the mail server
* Shared Inbox, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes and Free/Busy information for scheduling
* Public Folders
* Out Of Office Assistant
* Server Side Rules and Alerts
* Access to Outlook Web Access via any Web Browser
* Optional Server Side SPAM Management

IMAP Connections to the Exchange Server allow limited functionality:
* Direct Live Connection to the Mail Server

POP Connections offer the least functionality:
* Send and receive email only

All connection types allow you to keep messages on the server and to view your mailbox using Outlook Web Access.

What is my Hosted Exchange mailbox limit?

  • If you have Personal Exchange, the mailbox limit is 1 GB.
  • If you have Standard Exchange, the mailbox limit is 3 GB.
  • If you have Unlimited Exchange, the mailbox limit is unlimited.

Will I stop receiving e-mail if I go over my storage limit for my account?

Yes. At this time we do not have an automatic notification for when email will start bouncing, so we do encourage the use of the reporting tools available in the Hosted Exchange Control Panel.

Do public folders count as part of my storage space usage?

No, public folders do not apply to the individual mailbox storage limits, but they do count towards your domain-wide storage limit.  There are two types of domain-wide storage limits: a hard limit and a soft limit.  The domain-wide hard limit is 5 times the sum of all the individual mailbox account limits (public folders count towards this limit).  Once this limit is reached, none of the mailbox accounts will be able to send OR receive email.  The soft limit is the sum of all the individual mailbox account limits (public folders count towards this limit).  If you exceed the domain-wide storage soft limit, an additional storage overage fee will be applied to your Hosted Exchange account.

How do I find out what my current storage usage is?

Log into the Hosted Exchange Control Panel, click on the 'Reports' link, then click on the 'Storage Report' link to view the Disk Usage Report for your email account.

I currently use Outlook with a POP3 account. Why would I want to use your Hosted Exchange

Outlook offers mail, calendar, contacts and tasks for a single user.  When you add an Exchange server, you now have access to the same features for your group, including meetings, and access to one another’s calendars.  You also have access to public folders, which can be shared between group members.  These folders can contain email messages, files, contacts, calendars, tasks, and memos.

Since you are scanning messages for viruses, do I still need an anti-virus client on my workstation?

Yes, everyone should be running a good updated anti-virus client. Any good commercial product with daily updates will work fine, provided it is Outlook-aware.
